SITES EMBODIED PEDIAIOS PROJECT
Dance Gate Lefkosia Cyprus embarks on a new project for promoting Site- Specific Work in Nicosia using as SITE the area in and around the DH Lefkosia and the history of the building, situated on the banks of Pediaios River where there it also acts as part of the dividing line in Nicosia.
This new project will begin with a series of site specific workshops leading to performance and installation work at the Dance House Lefkosia from beginning of February – beginning of April 2018.
The workshops will take place on some Friday evenings and some Saturday mornings, with the possibility of some Sunday mornings, during this period.
The timetable will be given to interested participants by request only.

DESCRIPTION of the work involves
The project is a course on Site Specific Work ( inter disciplinary approach ) involving methodologies of working with the body and creative movement, writing and installation, leading to performance-installation-
The course involves 7 MODULS of several workshops leading to individual and group performances on SITE at the DH LEFKOSIA and the surrounding area.
DH Lefkosia is housed at the Old Market of Ayios Andreas on the banks of PEDIAIOS RIVER, where at that point it marks the dividing line in Nicosia .
DH Lefkosia is housed at the Old Market of Ayios Andreas built in 1940s.
Content of the Course
The work curriculum will involve: Somatic Movement methodologies to explore the deeper connections between BODY & EARTH, Somatic Movement Awareness, Embodied Anatomy, Movement Improvisation Composing whilst moving (solo, duets, group), Writing for performance, Voice work & Autobiographical Performance Methodologies.
The site specific performance workshops involve inter- disciplinary methodologies on site specific work and are addressed to multi-disciplinary artists (physical theatre actors, dancers, choreographers, performers, musicians, installation and video artists) educators and also students of the above art disciplines. Also anyone interested in ecology and the arts, the creative process and Research Methodologies on Site Specific Work.

Arianna Economou is a pioneer dance artist and interactive artist, activist in the community, founder of Echo Arts Living Arts Centre (1996). She has been collaborating with many local and international artists in numerous creative inter-disciplinary and bi-communal projects. Arianna has been creating solo & group dance works and she is engaged in various projects on the application of dance in the community (www.echoarts.info).
Arianna has presented her own dance works in dance and theatre festivals in England, Germany, Greece, Holland, Sweden, Armenia, Portugal and Egypt.
Arianna Economou has been presenting her own creative work on a regular basis at the Cyprus Dance Platform, at the Summer Dance Festival of Nea Kinisi and more recently at the “Terpshichore” dance research and development programme of the Cultural Services of the Ministry of Education and Culture. This year with Echo Arts and her collaborators she is presenting an audio-visual installation of the inter-generational bi-communal project “Far off Lands” (28 Jan – 28 Feb 2017) and “Trails of Memories” a dance performance accompanied by an archival space/installation at the Municipal Gallery of Pafos, taking place within the Terpsichore programme 2017 (15 Oct – 12 Nov 2017) in the frame of the Pafos2017 International Festival/ Pafos European Capital of Culture2017.
Arianna Economou is the director of Dance Gate Lefkosia Cyprus (2008- ) founding and organization member of Dancehouse Lefkosia, president of its governing board. She is the artistic director of the “No_Body” dance/ movement & performance arts festival and the receiver of the The Tefkros Anthias and Theodosis Pieridis Award (2005).
Anastasia McCammon works with the medium of the body to explore methods of capturing and presenting situational experiences. Her work uses critical research and somatic practices to craft theatrical stories and provoke discursive thought. Receiving her training in California Anastasia has danced in works by choreographers Jose Limon and Andrea Miller, as well as alongside several recognized artists including Yvonne Rainer’s Dance Company, Simone Forti, Anna Halprin and the Jacquelyn Buglisi Dance Company. Anastasia has toured in Europe and the Americas, and has presented research at international conferences. Anastasia continues to work with various mediums, choreographing works for festivals, gallery spaces and film.
